There are several ways where you can tweak Xunlei 迅雷 for better download speed. The things that you can do to speed up your Thunder Xunlei download speed are as following:

1. Port Forwarding the ports that stated in your xunlei for both TCP and UDP. To see what’s your TCP and UDP ports are of your Xunlei, go to tools and then option, go to BT and look for the ports(the words are in chinese). For guide of port forwarding, visit www.portforward.com.

2. Uncheck UPnP under the same place(tools -> option -> BT).

3. Set your upload speed below the speed you can get. For example, if your package support 512kbps of upload speed, set it to 40-45kb/s.

4. DOWNLOAD ONE FILE AT A TIME. This is the most obvious tweak. You may see a great change of speed after you stop a several tasks and let only one of them run it.

5. Since it work as a http header, some people claim that forwarding port 80, 8080 and 21 are the best because there is no other http browser using ports beside these 3 ports. I personally don’t feel any differences of this tweak.

6. If you are using Windows XP, set your TCP half open connection to around 100 so that more connections are allowed to connect through your pc. Google “TCP half open connection” for more details.

Good Luck and enjoy downloading!

Yes! we have no choice but to love Streamyx!
If you are a subscriber of ~~ streamyx, you should know how we, the users of TM Net Streamyx feel when we are downloading through torrent. Torrent is totally legal for everyone to use, as long as the materials you upload or download are not illegally copied. But, I believe nobody will care about this. So, lets leave this aside.

Speed? Throttling?
Speed, speed and speed! Everyone wants speed! But for us, the Streamyx users are not getting the speed we want. It’s ok if we take consideration of our economy. We are unfortunately unable to afford the higher technology. We understand it. But, please don’t throttle us… (Based what I know, throttle means something like blocking you from p2p connection.)

How slow you are when you are torrent-ing?
I personally get 1 to 10kbps using Bitcomet, Azureus, utorrent and BitTorrent. How about you? I’m not sure whether you get better speed or not because the possibility for them to throttle you is extremely depending on your location. They throttle the users mostly from crowded place as their bandwidth of that area is not able to support all users.

Best Torrent Client?
There is nothing that is the best. But for us who get throttled by our ISP, 迅雷(xunlei) or Thunder is the best solution to download faster!

How does 迅雷(xunlei) or Thunder works?
(Based on what I understand about this software) Xunlei connects to peers using fake http header, unlike other torrent client which connect to peers directly. Since it works this way, the connection is no longer a p2p connection. It is the same as you download something from a source. For Xunlei, a peer is equal to a source, thus it can connect to many sources for one task. This concept can bypass the thrrotling of your ISP.

Weaknesses of Xunlei
The speed is extremely unstable. It’s all depend on the task itself. If there are more sources, it would be more stable. How unstable it is? For example, when you have 100kbps for a task, it can sometimes have a sudden drop to 2kbps or lower. Why is this happen? I’m still not sure about this. But, I guess that a task might sometimes experience some file transfer pausing during the process. Thus, the speed might be affected.

TRY IT OUT!!
Download it from Xunlei.com.

This is a great breakthrough for the cyberworld as a group of European physicist which locate in London had come out a brand new computer which could build itself- a new development that can lead to self-assembling computers.

This team of physicist has create an integrated circuit that can build itself. They took a organic molecule known as quinquethiophene and connect it with a long carbon chain with a silicon group at the end. Then they soaked the circuit board with electrodes.

A researcher at Philips Research Laboratores locate in Eindhoven,Holland (Dago de Leeuw name of the researcher) said that the molecules which attached to an insulating layer between the eletrodes will form a bridges between them.

This is the picture of quinquethiophene that I found in the internet

This is my opinion, it can’t be denied that this breakthrough does bring many advantages to the society however, a self-assemble computer may lead to devastation. This is because, if a computer can build itself and assemble itself, everyone in this world would not know What computer will do in the future; What the computer planning to do; What the computer thinking and more. Somehow, I think that someone will overcome this problem if this technology will be greatly used in the future.

My two-cents about IE8:
I am using IE since I first enter the world of internet. Honestly, I always prefer IE instead of Mozilla… Anyway, both of them have their own pros and cons.
I’m quite happy with IE8 as it has implemented the better CSS version which is the CSS 2.1. Not to mention again, I like every single one of the above features of IE8. The problem is just the degree of familiarity. I’m quite not familiar with the features, perhaps it takes time for me to be familiar with the new features. Anyway, it is great to have IE8.
So, why don’t you try it out? Leave your opinions about IE8 here!

When you plug your Universal Serial Bus (USB) device into your computer and find it can’t access. At the same time, the computer shows “This device cannot start (code 10)”. Here are some basic troubleshooting steps to help you to solve the problem.

First, you need to find out all the posible problems for the device itself. Here is a good way to test whether is your USB device problem or the Configuration of your computer. Try to plug your USB into other computer and try to access it. If it doesn’t work, then the problem is with the device itself. USB devices are very handy and portable everywhere, somehow it can fail just like any other device. However, if your USB devices does work on other computer, then the problem will be the Configuration of your computer.

Here are the steps to troubleshoot the problem and make your USB device to work again.

1) Open the Device Manager and look for the USB Serial Bus Controllers. When you find that, there’s a device with a yellow exclamation mark next to it such as USB Mass Storage Device. Double-click on it and entry to check the Device Status. If the Status shows something like “This device cannot start (Code 10)” try to procees to Step 2.

2) Here is the easiest way to solve for a USB error (code 10) in Window XP. *The steps below is to remove and reinstall all the USB controllers.

(i) Click on the Start button

(ii) Right Click on My Computer and click on the Properties

(iii) Click on the Hardware tab

(iv) Click the Device Manager button

(v) Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller sections

(vi) Right Click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click the Uninstall to remove them all at a same time.

(vii) Restart your computer, and allow the computer to reinstall the USB controllers

(viii) Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test it to make sure that the problem is resolved.

3) If you are using a USB cable with your device like external hard disk, check the cable to make sure it matches the speed of the device. USB 2.0 cables with USB 2.0 devices and USB 1.1 cables with USB 1.1 devices. Swap the cables to check the device, if this doesn’t work, proceed to Step 1.

I bet this is a good news to all the Xbox lover, Microsoft decides to cut down its Xbox 360 From Friday in US and undercutting Nintendo’s Wii in order to offer the cheapest next-generation console.

In addition, Microsoft also announced to cut 30% of the price for Xbox in Japan this week. Microsoft also said on Wednesday, the price of the basic 360 Arcade console which does not feature a hard drive would be cut by 29%-from $279.99 to $199.99-from Friday in US. This will also undercut the price of Wii, which has sold for $249.99 since it launch. However, its console with a 60GB hard drive will retail for $299.99 - a cut of $50 and making it $100 cheaper than PlayStation 3 (PS3) that without its Blu-ray drive and WiFi capabilities. The Xbox 360 Elite, the top model, will drop to $399.99.

Models were bragging Microsoft Xbox 360 game consoles, Xbox Arcade (left) andStandard during the Xbox 360 media briefing 2008 in Tokyo on 1st of September.

Besides playing popular games, Xbox Arcade also can be used to view movies which you can download from the Xbox Live Marketplace, or via its DVD player.

“We feel that with the console price we have now, and the games that have for it-Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Lips, Scene it? Box Office Smash and You’re in the Movies-we are really well-positioned to invite a whole new group of consumers to play with Xbox 360,” said Craig Flannagan, group platform manager for Xbox Canada.

Microsoft had launch Xbox 360 for one year’s head compare to Wii and PS3, however it was overtaken by NPD in June in US when the NPD research firm reported Nintendo had sold 10.9million units of Wii to date.

555,000 units of Wii are sold compare with 225,000 units of PS3 and 205,000 units of Xbox 360 in July.

The success of Wii caught attention in the industry, including the game publishers by a big surprise. Electronic Arts recenctly remade five of its best-selling franchise titles, Madden NFL, FIFA Soccer, NBA Live, Tiger Woods PGA Tour and NCAA Foorball, for the Wii, addinf All-Play to the tittles.

“They need to do something,” said Michael Pachter, a video game analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities. ” What has prompted this is relatively lackustre sales. They can afford a price cut, as they’ve (production costs that are probably close enough to these new prices.”

Microsoft inform that the history had shown that over 75% of all game console sales occurred after the price fell below $200.

A beta version of a new open source browser introduces by Google: Google Chrome

Having the browser window that is streamlined and simple is good for everyone. However, majority of the people don’t care about the browser but the tool to run the important of the stuff. Just like the Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean , efficient and fast. It gets you to the where you want to be and what you want.

Google Chrome looks simple and easy as compare to others browser like Mozilla FireFox, Internet Explorer and etc. There are many features introduce by Google.

Just one click on this button, you had bookmark the particular website. Bookmark will be easy and handy when using Google Chrome.

Typing the website address is much more faster. Google Chrome will remember all the website that you had visited. This feature will definitely save your time to remember the particular web site’s address.

Google Chrome will display all the bookmark website when you open it. It will be more easy for you to choose from the first page as compare to other browser which require you to click on the bookmark button to search for the website address in order to access.

For my opinion, Google Chrome is far more easy to use compare to other browser as it save my time. Due to the speed and efficient of the browser, I would like to ask you to try it. It takes me a few second to download the Google Chrome installer.

Author of this post: Edmund Hee
Majority of the laptop user will think about this question “If I run my laptop power source instead of the laptop battery, will it lengthen the battery life?” The answer is yes. Laptop battery has their own finite life spans. Using power cord and remove the battery will lengthen the life of battery.

Lithium-Ion laptop battery has a lifespan of approximate 1000 charge cycles, or 2-4 years under a normal operating conditions.

Here are some tips that you can prolong your laptop battery life.

1. Defragment regularly

The more efficient of the hard drive ; the less demand for the hard drive and battery. Defragment regularly will increase the reading speed of the hard drive as spinning and reading from hard drive is a pretty big power consume. Defragment helps to consolidates files so that each is saved in contiguos physical space in the hard drive and the computer will access all the file more faster and efficient.

2. Reduce the brightness of the laptop screen

This will sounds stupid but it definitely does make difference. By lowering the screen brightness to the lowest or second-lowest setting, it will significantly extend the battery life. Every laptop has the ability to control the brightness of the screen, all it takes is pressing a couple of buttons. (somehow this method does strain my eye)

3. Terminate the programs running in the background

By pressing the Ctrl+Alt+Delete button, Taks Manager will appear, choose Processes to terminate the process which running in the background. (like programs that you aren’t using) All these will increase the CPU usage and it will causes a lots power being consume from the battery. Shut down programs that isn’t crucial when using the laptop battery.

4. Ensure that the contact of the battery is clean

Use a cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol to clean the battery’s metal contacts. This is because the transfer of power from the battery to the laptop will be more efficient.

5. Ensure that battery is under a good condition

Don’t leave a charged battery for a long periods of time and don’t leave the Lithium-Ion completely discharge. Once the battery is used, use the battery at least once every two to three weeks.

6. Manage the correct power scheme

Choosing the right power scheme will definitely help to lengthen the battery lifespan. Try to choose the “Low Power Mode” as they don’t consume as much power as Max battery.

7. Stop the wireless signal when you aren’t using

Turn off the wireless because WiFi consume a lot of power from the battery and you can save up to Maximum of 20 minutes of the laptop’s battery

8.Hibernate but not standby the laptop

Placing a laptop in the standby mode does saves some power but it doesn’t save much power compare to hibernate mode. Hibernating a PC will actually save the PC’s stateas it is, and completely shut itself down.

9. Keep the temperature of the laptop down.

Laptop will operates more efficient when it’s temperature is cool. Clean the air vents with cloth or keyboard cleaner.

10. Try to avoid multitask

Do one thing at a time when the battery is on. Working one thing rather than open many programs that you’re not using. It will drain out more power from the battery before you get your work complete.
