A very good news for iPhone users! Recently, A patent filing shows that Apple is planning to add its own instant messaging client to the iPhone.

The filing entitled “Portable Electronic Device for Instant Messaging,” and includes methods for sending, receiving, and viewing ongoing conversations. The proposed graphical user interface of the up coming IM is similar to Apple’s current user interface for SMS.

Recently, AOL demonstrated an AOL Instant Messenger client at the launch of the iPhone SDK. But, the AOL IM client isn’t allowed to run in the background which normal IM applications rely on and most users care about.
