I bet this is a good news to all the Xbox lover, Microsoft decides to cut down its Xbox 360 From Friday in US and undercutting Nintendo’s Wii in order to offer the cheapest next-generation console.

In addition, Microsoft also announced to cut 30% of the price for Xbox in Japan this week. Microsoft also said on Wednesday, the price of the basic 360 Arcade console which does not feature a hard drive would be cut by 29%-from $279.99 to $199.99-from Friday in US. This will also undercut the price of Wii, which has sold for $249.99 since it launch.  However, its console with a 60GB hard drive will retail for $299.99 - a cut of $50 and making it $100 cheaper than PlayStation 3 (PS3) that without its Blu-ray drive and WiFi capabilities. The Xbox 360 Elite, the top model, will drop to $399.99.

Besides playing popular games, Xbox Arcade also can be used to view movies which you can download from the Xbox Live Marketplace, or via its DVD player.

“We feel that with the console price we have now, and the games that have for it-Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Lips, Scene it? Box Office Smash and You’re in the Movies-we are really well-positioned to invite a whole new group of consumers to play with Xbox 360,” said Craig Flannagan, group platform manager for Xbox Canada.

Microsoft had launch Xbox 360 for one year’s head compare to Wii and PS3, however it was overtaken by NPD in June in US when the NPD research firm reported Nintendo had sold 10.9million units of Wii to date.

555,000 units of Wii are sold compare with 225,000  units of PS3 and 205,000 units of Xbox 360 in July.

The success of Wii caught attention in the industry, including the game publishers by a big surprise. Electronic Arts recenctly remade five of its best-selling franchise titles, Madden NFL, FIFA Soccer, NBA Live, Tiger Woods PGA Tour and NCAA Foorball, for the Wii, addinf All-Play to the tittles.

“They need to do something,” said Michael Pachter, a video game analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities. ” What has prompted this is relatively lackustre sales. They can afford a price cut, as they’ve (production costs that are probably close enough to these new prices.”

Microsoft inform that the history had shown that over 75% of all  game console sales occurred after the price fell below $200.
